Although this is massively veering off topic from my essay, while trying to find out how old Britney Spears was in the video ” Hit me baby one more time” I discovered her first ever magazine cover at the tender age of 17, in her under wear cuddling a Telly Tubby. The photo was taken by David LaChapelle in March 1999 and although Britney Spears was over the legal age of 16 here in the UK she was under the legal age of 18 in America. This sparked massive contraversy , although she is not the first girl-celebrity to be in this compromising position: Kate Moss, Brooke Shields, Miley Cyrus etc. I find this image more sad for Britney Spears then I do shocking, there have been far worse images than this come out of the media recently, however the Telly Tubby was clearly only placed to stir the pot. This is really just another case of a naive girl being exploited .
